Is the SKODA Karoq Bigger Than the Yeti?

Every car enthusiast knows about the SKODA Yeti. A popular model that was released in 2009, it held a prominent place within the Skoda range for the past 10 years. But when it was discontinued, its predecessor the SKODA Karoq rapidly took over.

You might be wondering, is the SKODA Karoq bigger than the Yeti? Although the Yeti was a popular choice, it wasn’t known for its spacious size. So, you’ll be happy to know that the SKODA Karoq is slightly bigger – in terms of its width, length and the amount of interior space it has to offer.

To compare them more clearly, the SKODA Yeti was:

4, 223 mm (L) x 1, 793 mm (W)

Whereas the SKODA Karoq is:

4, 382 mm (L) x 1, 841 mm (W)

SKODA Karoq Review

The new range of SKODA Karoq has a wide variety of features that car enthusiasts will love. With a stylish exterior and interior design, it can be adjusted to suit your taste and budget. Externally, it has a sweeping panoramic sunroof, sculpted headlines and a wide variety of colour options.

Internally, the Skoda Karoq also doesn’t fail to impress, with a spacious layout and leading-edge technology. If you really want to push the boat out, you can opt for the Karoq Sportline which features even more deluxe enhancements, including a leather steering wheel and micro suede upholstery.

In terms of technology, the SKODA Karoq doesn’t cut corners. From the Connect infotainment system to the built-in SmartLink + technology, the possibilities are endless with these models. Through technology, it will also keep you safe due to the automatic emergency braking feature.

Model lines available:

  • SKODA Karoq SE
  • SKODA Karoq SE Technology
  • SKODA Karoq SE L
  • SKODA Karoq Scout
  • SKODA Karoq Sportline
  • SKODA Karoq Edition

Within this range, there are four engines available. Choosing between either front-wheel and four-wheel drive (available in the 2.0 diesel models), you will be able to find the car of your dreams. You can also choose between a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox which operates automatically.

Performance

Each of the engines available in this range is flexible and powerful. If you’re looking for an engine that is most suited to local/shorter drives, then the 1.0 -litre petrol engine is your best bet. Whereas if you want a more powerful vehicle for longer drives, the 2.0 TDI is more appropriate.

Whether you opt for the DSG gearbox or six-speed manual, you will be able to keep the car quiet at any speed.

Suspension

You’ll be pleased to know that all of the SKODA Karoq range have either 17, 18 or 19-inch wheels. Smoothing the road surface so that you feel as comfortable as possible, it’s ideal when you’re riding on rough surfaces.

Agility and Handling

After the Yeti, SKODA wanted to ensure that the Karoq blended a combination of sportiness and comfort. Agile and good at handling a wide range of terrains, the Karoq comes out on top. With smooth steering, you will be able to drive more accurately and have more grip – which will, in turn, result in you having more control when you’re on the road.

Noise

This will depend on whether you opt for the diesel or petrol models. But overall, it’s fair to say that the diesel models are a little noisy when you accelerate quickly – whilst, on the other hand, the petrol models do hum whilst you are driving. However, neither of these noises make for an unpleasant ride.

Other features worth mentioning:

  • Adjustable steering wheel, seat height and all of the trims: making it pleasant to drive no matter what your build.
  • Good seat support.
  • Large windows and thin windscreen pillars, allowing for great front and side visibility when driving.
  • Rear parking sensors – perfect when you’re parking somewhere that’s a bit tricky.
  • The SE L model also features a rear-view camera.
  • A beautiful, crystal-clear screen that’s incredibly responsive and modern.
