WALES’ BIGGEST MOTOR RETAILER, SINCLAIR GROUP, HOST STAR-STUDDED CHARITY EVENT IN SUPPORT OF MAXWELL FAMILY FUND

The event will help Craig Maxwell reach his £2m target for Velindre Cancer Care

Sinclair Group, Wales’ biggest motor retailer, is throwing a star-studded charity gala event later this month to support Craig Maxwell’s £2m target for Velindre Cancer Care.

The gala, Destination £2 Million, will be held at Celtic Manor Resort on 29th October, hosted by Gethin Jones, and will see businesses and entrepreneurs come together to raise money for a very important cause.

Craig Maxwell was diagnosed with incurable stage 4 EGFR lung and bone cancer in 2022 at the age of 40. Since his diagnosis, Craig has dedicated his time to create a better future for others facing cancer - so far, with his family, raising £1.7 million for research. Since his diagnosis, Craig has become one of Wales' leading cancer research fundraisers, creating a legacy and inspiring thousands to support his charity work.

Sinclair Group has a longstanding relationship with Craig and his family, so supporting the event seemed a natural collaboration. Andy Sinclair, Managing Director of Sinclair Group said: “I’ve known Craig a long time and the charity work he’s been carrying out is truly remarkable.

“Our ambition with the event is to pass the £2 million milestone together. In doing so, we can help Craig achieve something that means an enormous amount to him and his family - creating a lasting legacy for his family, while also ensuring that families facing cancer in Wales have access to faster diagnosis, pioneering genomics and better opportunities for treatment. It’s going to be a night to remember and I really look forward to Sinclair Group hosting.”

Craig Maxwell commented: “I’m incredibly grateful to Andy, the Sinclair Group and everyone who has been involved in the gala event. I can’t believe we’re almost at the £2 million mark. My biggest thanks goes to everyone who has supported my fundraising over the years - your generosity has supported many families across Wales and this milestone means we can continue to do so for longer.”

The gala will be a black tie event, where guests can enjoy a three-course dinner and live entertainment from DJ and ex-rugby star, Josh Navidi. The guest list also includes Warren Gatland, Scott Quinnell, George North and Lauren Salter, who have all supported Craig’s journey over the years and wish to get him over the £2m mark.
