The Volkswagen Transporter range of vehicles offers a variety of options, enabling drivers and businesses to customise their vans to suit their needs. The T6.1 also benefits from various load security features, including half-height hardboard side panels, six or eight adjustable lashing eyes and optional metal rails on the side panels. Split locking functions on vans with a bulkhead keep the load and vehicle secure. A choice of rear door solutions offers a large tailgate or versatile rear wing doors. LED lighting improves visibility, and various storage options also help to keep the cab organised.

The T6.1 also includes a Trailer Assist feature, making it easier for drivers to add to their load and drive safely. Trailer Assist makes it easier for the driver to parallel park and reverse park, using the wing mirror switch and rear-view camera to manoeuvre the trailer when parking.

In addition to the Transporter panel van, there are also the options of the Transporter shuttle, the Transporter kombi and the Transporter Sportline. The shuttle can transport up to nine passengers (including the driver), with a five to nine seat package. It has an optional electric tailgate for easier loading of luggage. The kombi has space for both people and cargo, with seating for up to six people and a choice of two roof heights and wheelbases. The Transporter Sportline offers a sporty option, available as a panel van or kombi. It has a gross vehicle weight of 3.2 tonnes.
