Volkswagen ID.6 Arriving in 2023

Volkswagen is leading the way when it comes to the electric vehicle market with their ID range, and the release date and anticipation for the upcoming ID6 is not to disappoint. It is set to become the flagship model of the ID range.

The new vehicle will come with 7 seats and is set to be released as a saloon or an estate version. Rivalling some of the other popular electric vehicles in the range include offerings from BMW, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz.

What can we expect from the ID.6

There is expected to be some similarities with the Volkswagen ID4 which is a smaller version of this vehicle that has recently been unveiled. One of the biggest headlines coming is that the range for the vehicle will be up to 435 miles, making it a powerful model in the electric car market arena. While the ID 6 isn’t actually confirmed as the name of the model, the number 6 is hugely influential in chinese history and symbolism, and as the China market is a big market share for Volkswagen, it looks like the number offerings will follow along from the ID3, the ID4 and also the coupe-SUV ID5.

The ID 6 will be offered with three different motor options. There will be one motor for a rear-wheel drive option and two motor choices for the four-wheel driver. The Four-wheel drive layout will also underpin the GTX performance model that is capable of 0-62mph in around 5.6 seconds. As a comparison, the single-motor model will have a 0-62mph time of around 8.5 seconds. 

As with other ID models that have been released and unveiled, the ID 6 is set to be sold with a choice of battery options helping to make the transition to electric easier for customers. There an 85kWh pack, which although is still in the early stages of development, is claimed to be the largest battery pack that will be mounted within the flat floor of the MEB platform. This will provide a range of around 431 miles. Some 89 miles more than that quited for the ID 3 pro S, which has a battery pack of 77kWh. It is also worth noting the model is planned to support charging at a rate of 200kW, which will allow around 143 miles in range to be added in just ten minutes of charge using a DC rapid charger. This could potentially be a game changer when it comes to the electric vehicle market.

While there are no images of the interior of the Volkswagen ID 6 just yet, we can expect that it will be similar to the ID 3 and the recently unveiled ID 4. Although there is likely to be some distinctive changes in terms of features and characteristics. The interior is likely to be very spacious given the extra space there is because of the lack of a petrol or diesel engine.

It is certainly going to have the wow factor and will be available for sale in 2023.
