Volkswagen Announce New California XXL Camper Van

Volkswagen will unveil their brand new California XXL next month at the Caravan Salon in Germany.  Based on the Crafter the XXL will fit into the Volkswagen Van range above the Transporter T-6-based California.

The high roof used will allow adults to comfortably stand within the camper van while inside the XXL will follow the concept guidelines with a wet room for a bathroom and berths for two adults and two children.  There will also be room to cook with kitchen facilities integrated that include a gas hob, two fridges and a sink to do all your washing up!

As we near the big reveal, there isn’t too much more information about how closely the XXL will follow on from the concept so there are still question marks as to whether coloured mood lighting, a panoramic roof and projector TV in the bedroom will make it through to production.

Volkswagen Camper Vans

Volkswagen are yet to lift the lid on pricing for the California XXL but given the pricing of the Crafter, Transporter T6 and the California, we anticipate pricing to start from around £60,000.  Powering the XXL will be the 2.0 litre TDI engine that is also seen in the Crafter.  There will be a host of options made available, some of which will be carried through from the current California, such as two tone paint and fold out awnings and dining sets.
