How to Pair Your Phone with Your Mercedes

How to Pair Your Phone with Your Mercedes

Did you know that your Mercedes can pair up with your phone to give you full connectivity? This means that you will be able to connect your phone’s contact list and make calls from your phone, as well as play the music on your phone from your car’s console.

If it’s your first time having this kind of connectivity in your car or you are just having trouble linking it up, let us take you through how you can set it up with this easy to follow guide.

To get started you’ll need a mobile phone that has Bluetooth connectivity and the phone must be turned on - it’s always a good idea to read the pairing instructions of your mobile phone too.

Step One

Have your mobile in your hand and open it up to the home screen, from here:

1. Locate and select ‘Settings’ in your phone. 2. Tap the ‘Bluetooth’ option. 3. Tap the option to turn on ‘Bluetooth’. 4. Make sure your phone is visible to other devices with Bluetooth.

Step Two

Now you’ve got your Bluetooth switched on in your phone’s settings you need to get to the telephone screen of your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system. This can be done by pressing the “TEL” key on the radio or select phone.

Step Three

Located in the bottom left corner is the ‘Phone’ application, select this.

Step Four

Now you’re in the ‘Phone’ application, select the ‘Phone List’ application.

Step Five

Within the ‘Phone List’ you must then press the ‘Update’ function.

Step Six

The car’s computer system with now search and pick up any new Bluetooth compatible devices. Depending on how many devices are nearby, this could take some time.

Step Seven

Once the car has completed its search for Bluetooth devices you will need to select your mobile phone from the list (example “Joe’s iPhone’).

Step Eight

To connect your mobile phone to your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system enter a unique 1 to 16 digit passcode (password) using the Mercedes-Benz hands-free system. To guarantee a successful Bluetooth® connection it is recommended that at least a 4 digit passcode (password) is used.

Select "Ok" to confirm.

To complete the connection process follow the steps below and enter the passcode (password) previously entered in step 8 on the keypad of your mobile phone

Step Nine

1. "Bluetooth® pairing request / Type PIN to pair with MB Bluetooth" will be shown on your mobile phone. 2. Please enter your passkey. This passkey must be identical to the passkey you entered in the Mercedes-Benz hands-free system. 3. Confirm the passkey by selecting "OK". 4. If there is a pop-up "Contacts/phonebook request: MB Bluetooth would like to access your contacts and call history. Allow MB Bluetooth access?/Give access to MB Bluetooth?" select "OK".

Step Ten

If the authorization was successful a PopUp appears on your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system.

Step Eleven

After your mobile phone is successfully connected via Bluetooth® to your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system the name of your mobile (example "My Phone") phone will be displayed in the lower left corner above the “Phone” icon.
