HISTORY OF THE VOLKSWAGEN TOURAN

The Volkswagen Touran made its debut in 2003 and has been a constant feature in the VW lineup for more than 20 years. It has gone through three generations, with the latest, the third generation, launching in 2015. This generation saw a full redesign, increasing the vehicle’s length by approximately 13 centimetres, resulting in a more spacious interior - making it ideal for transporting passengers and cargo. It also introduced advanced assistive and infotainment systems, along with the option of six new engine variants.

VOLKSWAGEN TOURAN TRIM LEVELS

Used VW Touran models from 2015 onwards come in a range of trim levels, giving users the flexibility to choose the ideal family MPV that fits their lifestyle. The third-generation Touran is available in five trim levels: Touran S, SE, SE Family, SEL, and the top-of-the range Touran R-Line.

VOLKSWAGEN TOURAN TECHNOLOGY 

The entry-level Touran S trim provides plenty of technology to ensure a comfortable and convenient driving experience. Post-2015 models are equipped with an 8.0-inch colour touchscreen display, offering Bluetooth connectivity, DAB radio, and a USB socket, allowing drivers to stay safely connected while on the road. If the S trim isn't enough for you, the next trim up, the Touran SE, adds adaptive cruise control, privacy glass and extra storage to name a few. The top-of-the-range R-Line trim comes with additional features, including larger wheels and three-zone climate control, among other premium additions.

VOLKSWAGEN TOURAN SAFETY FEATURES & EURO NCAP ASSESSMENT

As mentioned earlier, the 2015 Touran model was awarded the maximum five-star safety rating by the European New Car Assessment Programme (EuroNCAP). However, it’s worth noting that the 2020 models received a four-star rating. If safety is your top priority, we recommend choosing a 2015-2019 model.

The 2015 VW Touran 1.6 'Comfortline' LHD, which earned the 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, is packed with a wide range of safety features. These include rear ISOFIX seats, front and side airbags, and electronic stability control, among others.

VOLKSWAGEN TOURAN ENGINE OPTIONS & PERFORMANCE

The 2015 Touran offered a choice of five engine options, which included three petrol engines & two diesel engines. Engine options include a 1.2 TSI, 1.4 TSI, 1.5 TSI, 1.6 TDi and 2.0 TDI. These engines were primarily paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, but depending on the chosen trim level, a seven-speed automatic transmission was also available.

However, post 2021 Touran models are only available with 1.5 TSI 150 petrol engine, which produces up to 148bhp and achieves a respectable 8.9 second 0-62mph time. The engine also comes with a manual gearbox, however, there is also semi-automatic option available for SEL, Match, and R-Line trims.
