The Cardiff Rugby Community Foundation is driving forward with its sterling work across South Wales after teaming up with Sinclair Land Rover.

The charity, which works in partnership with Cardiff Rugby, has been supplied with a Land Rover Discovery Sport by the motor retail group to deliver various community-focused programmes in the unitary authorities of Cardiff, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr Tydfil, Powys and the Vale of Glamorgan. These have ranged from active family initiatives and offender rehabilitation to visually-impaired and wheelchair rugby.

Its aim is to engage with and strengthen communities and build personal well-being through the use of sport in the areas of Health, Education, Employability and Inclusion. In the past six months alone, more than 20,000 people have participated in Foundation activities including members from 84 community clubs and pupils from 381 schools.

Nadine Griffiths, Cardiff Rugby Community Foundation, said the provision of transport was vital in enabling the charity to extend its reach across a large area of diversity.

"The Land Rover Discovery Sport is perfect for our needs, not only is it large enough to transport all of our equipment but it also provides us with a very reliable vehicle to get out to our communities and offers that doorstep provision of being able to drive onto parks and pitches when needed to unload and deliver our sessions,” she said. “During school holidays, it will also be used as part of our ‘Fit & Fed’ provision to deliver fun sport activity sessions and ensure that every child attending receives a free meal in the fight against holiday hunger. On these occasions, we can not only load up the Land Rover with equipment but fill it with the free packed lunches for all children too.”

Nadine concluded: “The generosity of Sinclair Land Rover cannot be under estimated and as a charity we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to continue to help our local communities and people most at need.”
