HISTORY OF THE LAND ROVER DEFENDER

The Land Rover Defender has been a key model in the Land Rover lineup since its introduction in 1983. However, it wasn't until 1990 that the name "Defender" was officially used, when the Ninety and One-Ten series were renamed to Defender 90, 110, and 130. Over its 40+ years of production, the Defender has now entered its second generation, which was launched in 2020. The redesigned 2020 model boasts a completely new platform, an aluminum unibody, and independent suspension all around, along with several other enhancements, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

LAND ROVER DEFENDER TOWING CAPABILITIES

The Defender models have different towing capabilities dependent on the engine, ranging from a maximum braked trailer weight of 3,000kg to 3,500kg for models from 2003, with the exception of the Land Rover Defender 90 First Edition, which is capable of reaching 3,700kg upper limit with its standard P400 i6 engine. Defender models from 1992-2002 can reach a maximum braked trailer weight of 4,000kg.
